To sew, or not to sew

I will sew. I will sew a dress. It will be made of this beautiful blue paisley tapestry:blue paisley

It took some time to find the pattern I wanted, but I found this modest beauty.

cap sleeve dress pattern

I am stoked that I found a short sleeved summer dress and don’t have to do any alterations…as I don’t really even know how to sew yet so alterations may be a mission impossible. I am also stoked to find material to make that pretty green one in the back.

So the material was $12.00 a metre and I bought 2 3/4. Everything came to $45 (with my friends Fabricland discount card). Kind of pricy for a summer dress eh. But, the pattern will be used at least 3 times which makes the investment better, and I didn’t really shop around for a sale on the material which I could have done. And what makes it all worth it is I will be making it with my cousin, grandma, and aunt spending time with them…or them spending time fixing my mistakes hah. It will be way fun, and for sure I will post a picture of the finished product. And, if things go well, I am going to start a little dress making club called Bolt Me Baby. What do you thinketh?

Hooligan on bike, Kohler Beech, Lake Erie.

I wish I could say this was delicious like my little snackies below, but I can’t. The aroma of seaweed and dead fish don’t really fit that adjective. Let’s say it was a  consequence of those little snackies…a consequence with a photogenic view.

These are just a few of my favourites I shot today on my walk on Kohler Beech.  We used to beg to go here when we were kids. I won’t show you a picture of where we went when the answer was “no”. It’s called the Grand River which is another excellent example of an unfit adjective.

After taking these photographs I turned around and walked back to my car. As I was walking down the road, minding my own business, thinking of how much of an accomplishment it was to go on a 3 km walk, a little girl on a bike rode up and asked me how long I had been running for. Naturally I began panting and induced sweating to show as if I had just finished a marathon.

“I’m just out for a walk today sweetie” I  replied with a smile. “How long have you been riding your bike for?” I asked. Naturally, the little girl replied

“Oh, at least two hours.” And so it became a competition, which also naturally,I won.

“Well I rode my bike for three hours yesterday, maybe one day when you are big and strong like me you can ride that long too!”

Yah, I said that… to myself as I walked away. Was it true? Not so much. Will it be true? Not so much as yesterday has already passed. But, the next posting, I may have a bike, that I may have ridden for perhaps 3 hours.

It was a good walk. It was a great walk. It will be an amazing walk when walking it with my future husband telling him of this very incident. Hopefully that will be after I can endure riding a bike for a minimum of 2 hours so it’s not so terribly embarrassing.

Hooligan! I could have lied too, I could have said I had been running for days…

sweet sticky cinnamon rolls

IMG_3949IMG_3954IMG_3955

Okee dokee. They aren’t perfect but they are pretty close. So here are the sweetest buns that came out of my oven recently. I made them with splenda and splenda brown sugar mix. AMAZING!! but…only amazing as soon as they come out of the oven. After about 30 minutes the splenda hardens. Note* make the dough with real sugar as it helps the dough rise. I only rose these once which made for a bit heavy pastry.Next time I will have it rise a second time and it will be ultra fluffy.

Here’s the link to the recipe http://www.oprah.com/food/Gooey-Cinnamon-Sticky-Buns

***You know if it’s from Oprah’s kitchen it’s going to make you fat, so make these for someone else. Or like I did,  with splenda, and you can cut the calories by a third!

Butter this up

Right, so here is one of  the three brown beauties I baked this very day.

Here are the remains of a loaf after my dad awoke for nightshift.

And here is the little recipe I found with my bestfriend and mother (google).

And there is the wicked awesome $5 purchase from Michaels I scooped up the other day when I realized how behind I was on becoming a homemaker. Seriously, how sweet would that be? Stay at home, baking, crafting, jumping on the bed with your 3 hyper active kids, cleaning, gardening, staying awake for hours taking care of the little ones, napping...I really am having a hard time waiting. But I figure, this is some good time to prepare. So, feel free to email me your favorite recipes and I'll add them to my little magic box. Butter it up baby. mmmMMmmm Mmmmmm

My contribution to Trina-Bo-Binas wedding

The celtic crown. I dig it.
And this is kind of the sweetest head peice I have seen recently. i pick this one for you Trina. My Aunt Michele had one like this when she was married in the late 80s. She looked smokin. And look how happy this pretty lady looks. If she could speak she'd say: God bless the person who came up with this v-veil design, my jawline has never looked so good.

The butter it up blog is a little spotty where the events involving Bethany Joan Church are made sweeter, saltier, and tastier than they would be if left unbuttered.
